ISSUE No 14 – Review by Gregory Baxevanidis
Ιt’s more than a great pleasure for me that I finally succeeded to take interviews for the 14th issue of BEHIND THE MIRROR from two of my favorite Teutonic bands… I’m speaking of course about SEVENTH AVENUE and CUSTARD which both drove me crazy with their current efforts the last months. CUSTARD need no introductions, all these years of their existence they deliver the goods as far as the power/speed metal territory concerns with the most persuasive way! “Forces remain” is actually the fourth album of the band and it continues the glorious tradition they once started with “God of storm” EP back in 1996… Actually they recorded again the self titled track from that EP and I truly believe that the new version with the excellent interpretation by the vocalist Olli Strasse, surely adds many extra points to the final result! And what can I tell about the rest of the material that stands at the highest level? The band is focusing not only on dynamic riffs and speed rhythms that catch your breath but they also deliver stunning, memorable melodies in the first place as well! I don’t know if “Forces remain” is their most complete release so far –for me “Kingdoms of your life” and “For my king” belong to the aforementioned description- but one thing is for sure: every devoted CUSTARD fan will enjoy the new record and honestly speaking I think that is a necessary purchase for each serious heavy metal collection!
We are extremely proud to be on the front-cover of this mag and got a great 4-pages interview !
